- Spectralis™ OCT
At Chapel Hill Eyecare, we are committed to providing your eyes with the highest level of care with the most progressive technology available and that’s why we have upgraded to the Spectralis™ OCT.
CT is a diagnostic test can aid in earlier diagnosis and management of glaucoma and retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
Digital Imaging or Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an imaging technology similar to ultrasound and MRI. With OCT, reflected light is used to capture high-quality cross-sectional 3-D images of the retina. OCT can aid in earlier diagnosis and management of glaucoma and retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Spectralis™ OCT is a second generation scanning laser with not only higher resolution images, but also automatic retinal recognition technology that enables follow-up examinations to be scanned in the same exact location in the retina. We can perform OCT in our office and no preparation or recovery is necessary for our patients.

- Visual Field
This test draws a map of your vision, so that the doctor can look for changes in your vision which occur with glaucoma, optic nerve stroke, and other lesions which can affect the brain.
- Corneal Topography
A topographer makes a 3 dimensional plotting of the cornea, which is critical for fitting custom made contacts. Dr. Gropper and Dr. Lay specialize in unique contact lens fitting, such as the VFL multifocal contact lens which provides superior vision to soft multifocal contact lenses. This instrument also allows for the fitting of retainer lenses used in orthokeratology.
